Basic Pizza Sauce

**As Seen In:  Scratch Cooking, a 400+ page e-cookbook with hundreds of from-scratch recipes!**

This is my basic go-to, no-frills pizza sauce.  When I don’t have time to simmer sauces or need something quick, this is it.  In fact, I often prefer the taste of this basic sauce to the more elaborate sauces.  If you’ve ever had a pizza or calzone made by me, this is most likely the sauce I used.  You can dress this sauce up any way you want.

Ingredients:

  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1tb olive oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1-6oz can tomato paste
  • 1-8oz can tomato sauce
  • 1/2 tsp sugar or honey
  • 1/8 tsp pepper
  • 1/2 tsp oregano

Method:

  1. Saute garlic in olive oil in a small pot over medium high heat.  Once soft, add remaining ingredients.  Cook until heated.  This will cover two pizzas depending on how much sauce you like on yours.

This sauce also freezes fantastic.
