Happy 2019; Thanks for a Great 2018!

“Oh, you’re that teaching farm!”

A couple of times now recently, that has been said as new connections are made. It always brings a smile to my face because that is exactly what I was hoping to become. I have been so blessed by every one of you and your families that has come out […]

Farm Ramblings – June 2017

Boy have things been busy around here.

To say we’ve been busy has been a bit of an understatement, actually.

I have tried to sit at the computer and put together posts at a few different times during the spring. Typically I am outdoors until dark, then when I come indoors I have household chores […]

January 2017 Farm Ramblings

The hard work to heat our home is worth it!

I don’t think I’ve ever had such a farm-y January before. Generally, January is a pretty laid back month. The calm before the coming storm. An opportunity to continue resting before our feet hit the ground running. But not this year.

10 Reasons Homeschooling on a Farm ROCKS

As if homeschooling isn’t awesome enough as it is, I thought it would be fun to put together a list and hear your favorite things about homeschooling on a farm, too.

Field trips and nature walks are right outside our window. We can do so many experiments and make so many observations right here at […]

Our typical holiday feast

In our home, Christmas, Thanksgiving and Easter, we all eat the same thing. I am often asked what our holiday meal consists of, so I thought I would post what we normally eat and as I post recipes on the list I will link them. The only thing that changes might be whether we eat […]

Spring on the farm

There is such a difference of life, living out here. This is our first year on the farm, away from the city, and life is so different. You can really smell the fresh air out here. And during the spring, it is such a sweet fragrance. I never fully understood what fresh air really smelled […]

What we have growing – Spring 2015

In early April we began planting cool weather seeds and transplanting cool weather seedlings. We have a 70×130 garden with 16 garden plots about 5ft. wide and 50ft. long. Before the gardening season I fenced the garden off with light duty U-posts and 4ft. tall chicken wire to keep our free range chickens out. Once […]

Sunsets on the farm

I never really noticed sunsets on a regular basis until we moved here. In the city the view was always crowded by rooftops. Out here there are wide open spaces and it’s kind of impossible to ignore these magnificent views. I wanted to share some of my favorites.
