I never really noticed sunsets on a regular basis until we moved here. In the city the view was always crowded by rooftops. Out here there are wide open spaces and it’s kind of impossible to ignore these magnificent views. I wanted to share some of my favorites.

Sunsets…. Beautiful
I have made many chicken nugget recipes over the years. Some have been good, but not exactly what we have been looking for. I have been trying, in some way, to come close or top the nuggets that are so loved by kids. Something I can make in bulk and have on […]
When I was younger, I remember my dad making routine stops at a meat shop to pick up jerky. It was our special treat, a taste I grew up with. I have always wanted to try making it but never had enough “extra” meat to feel comfortable loosing a few pounds to a snack. We […]
After canning venison, I noticed one of the jars didn’t seal. Today I added a little of this and a little of that and put together a fantastic barley soup to use that quart of venison. I used some home canned veggies from the basement for this soup but you could always […]
These are currently my favorite sweet muffin. They use maple syrup as the sweetener – we use real maple syrup instead of the maple flavored syrup to avoid white sugar and high fructose corn syrup.
Ingredients:
1-3/4c flour 2ts baking powder 1ts baking soda 1/2ts salt 1/2 c butter, room temperature 3/4c maple syrup 1c […]
These were a big hit with both the adults and the kids. I found them to be satisfyingly sweet without being sickeningly sweet, moist and all around delicious. You can use whole wheat or all purpose flour. I used coconut oil but vegetable oil would work fine, too. Switch out the fruits for different tastes, […]
My kids have been on a muffin craze lately. I am always so disappointed at these delicious looking muffins that have high levels of sugar in them. I am not a fan of lots of sugar, so we seek out alternative sweeteners. If you are used to very, very sweet things, you may find these […]
These were so good. So, so good. We made stars, but you can actually buy goldfish style cookie cutters to make your own copycat Goldfish crackers. I had used freshly ground white whole wheat – I would assume regular all purpose flour would work fine, too. These crackers were husband approved in my household – […]
Ingredients:
6tb melted butter 1c cornmeal 3/4c flour 1tb sugar 1-1/2ts baking powder 1/2 ts baking soda 1/4ts salt 2 large eggs, beaten 1-1/2c buttermilk
