Ranch Dressing Mix

When I read the ingredient list on the back of my ranch dressing bottle a few years ago, that was all I needed to figure out how to make my own (we do store a few bottles to keep on hand for moments when I may not have all the necessary ingredients to make the dressing – like buttermilk).  When I made it, my son wanted to drink it like water from a cup!  We tried a few variations, all were nice, but we all favored ranch dressing mixes with dill in it.  We like to make dip and dressing from the mix, but the mix is also well suited to replace the dry seasoning packets called for in some recipes.

Ingredients:

  • 1tb parsley
  • 1ts dill
  • 1ts onion powder
  • 1ts dry minced onion
  • 1ts salt
  • 1 ts garlic powder
  • 1/4ts black pepper
  • 1/2c dry buttermilk*

Method:

  1. Combine above ingredients and store in the pantry until needed.
  2. To make dressing. combine 1tb of the mix with 1c milk and 1c mayo.  1tb of mix is the same as one seasoning packet.

*Dry buttermilk powder is often found near the dry milk in the grocery store. If you cannot find it and want to make this dressing, omit it and just use 1c buttermilk in place of milk.
