Coney Sauce for Hot Dogs

I was able to replicate my husbands favorite coney sauce.  This was pretty awesome because he hasn’t been able to find anything close to the taste he kept craving – which is about two hours away.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 lb ground beef, browned
  • 1/2c onion, chopped
  • 1-1/2 c ketchup
  • 1/4c sugar
  • 1/4c vinegar
  • 1/4c prepared mustard
  • 1/2 ts celery powder
  • 1ts Worcestershire sauce
  • 3/4ts salt
  • Hot dogs and buns
  • Additional chopped onion, shredded cheese, and whatever else you might like to top your dogs with.

Method:

  1. Combine all and let simmer about 2o minutes, longer is fine too.  You could throw all of this in the crockpot as well.  Spoon it over a hot dog in a bun.  Top with shredded cheddar and/or chopped onion.
