Whole Wheat “Goldfish” (or whatever you want) Crackers

These were so good.  So, so good.  We made stars, but you can actually buy goldfish style cookie cutters to make your own copycat Goldfish crackers.  I had used freshly ground white whole wheat – I would assume regular all purpose flour would work fine, too.  These crackers were husband approved in my household – this coming from someone who likes to snack on Cheez-Its and Goldfish, too.  Must have been good. 😉

Ingredients:

  • 1-1/2  c cheddar, shredded
  • 1/4c cold butter
  • 1/2c whole wheat flour
  • 1/4tsp onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Method:

  1. Preheat oven to 350F.  Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Combine all ingredients in a food processor and process until everything combines – this may take a couple of minutes.
  3. Wrap in plastic wrap and chill for about half an hour.
  4. Roll the dough out on a lightly floured surface about 1/8 inch thick.  Cut your shapes, dipping your cutter in flour between cutting the dough if necessary. Transfer dough to the cookie sheet.
  5. Bake until crackers just slightly brown around the edges – about 8-11 minutes.
