{"id":963,"date":"2015-05-09T05:11:16","date_gmt":"2015-05-09T05:11:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.k7farm.com\/blog\/?p=963"},"modified":"2015-05-09T05:11:16","modified_gmt":"2015-05-09T05:11:16","slug":"what-we-have-growing-spring-2015","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.k7farm.com\/blog\/?p=963","title":{"rendered":"What we have growing &#8211; Spring 2015"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In early April we began planting cool weather seeds and transplanting cool weather seedlings. \u00a0We have a 70&#215;130 garden with 16 garden plots about 5ft. wide and 50ft. long. \u00a0Before the gardening season I fenced the garden off with light duty U-posts and 4ft. tall chicken wire to keep our free range chickens out. \u00a0Once our cool weather garden is done producing, I may set our chickens loose in there during the day to eat what remains and fertilize the soil for next year. \u00a0I am not sure if I will be planting a fall garden yet simply due to time restraints with harvesting and canning, about the time the fall garden would have to be planted. \u00a0Considering this is our first year, I am going to take a wait-and-see approach and if we don&#8217;t get a fall garden in, that can be a goal for next year.<\/p>\n<p>Our transplants are doing awesome, and the seeds we planted directly are sprouting and doing great. \u00a0Here is what is growing:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Onions<\/li>\n<li>Garlic<\/li>\n<li>Broccoli<\/li>\n<li>Cauliflower<\/li>\n<li>Cabbage<\/li>\n<li>Wheat<\/li>\n<li>Quinoa<\/li>\n<li>Strawberries<\/li>\n<li>Raspberry bushes<\/li>\n<li>Carrots<\/li>\n<li>Beets<\/li>\n<li>Peas<\/li>\n<li><a title=\"Sprouted potatoes?
