{"id":728,"date":"2015-02-04T03:11:48","date_gmt":"2015-02-04T03:11:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.k7farm.com\/blog\/?p=728"},"modified":"2016-12-23T04:39:23","modified_gmt":"2016-12-23T04:39:23","slug":"chili-cheese-fries","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.k7farm.com\/blog\/?p=728","title":{"rendered":"Chili Cheese Fries"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.k7farm.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/IMG_1231.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-748\" src=\"http:\/\/www.k7farm.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/IMG_1231-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_1231\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.k7farm.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/IMG_1231-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.k7farm.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/IMG_1231-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.k7farm.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/IMG_1231-150x112.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.k7farm.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/IMG_1231-400x300.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This comes together pretty quick and is very satisfying and filling.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ingredients:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Fries:<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>4 large potatoes, cut lengthwise into wedges (6 or so per potato)<\/li>\n<li>Olive oil<\/li>\n<li>Salt and pepper<\/li>\n<li>Additional seasoning if desired<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><em>Meat:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a02lbs ground beef<\/li>\n<li>1 large onion, chopped<\/li>\n<li>4 cloves of garlic, minced<\/li>\n<li>2tb chili powder<\/li>\n<li>2ts cumin<\/li>\n<li>salt and pepper to taste<\/li>\n<li>3tb tomato paste<\/li>\n<li>2tb Worcestershire sauce<\/li>\n<li>1-1\/2c beef stock\/broth<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em><strong>Cheese (we use this cheese sauce to top veggies in other meals, too!):<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>3tb butter<\/li>\n<li>3tb flour<\/li>\n<li>3tb mustard<\/li>\n<li>1c milk<\/li>\n<li>1c chicken broth<\/li>\n<li>1-1\/2-2c shredded cheddar cheese<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Method<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Fries:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Preheat your oven to 450F.<\/li>\n<li>Place potatoes, a good sprinkling of olive oil, salt, pepper and any additional seasonings you may like into a bowl. \u00a0Stir well to combine.<\/li>\n<li>Lay in a single layer on a baking sheet.<\/li>\n<li>Roast until crispy and golden brown, about 40 minutes.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><em>Note: \u00a0Any variety of frozen fries will work as well. \u00a0I like to freeze my own fries each fall when we preserve potatoes for the year to come. \u00a0 It&#8217;s not hard at all.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><b>Meat:<\/b><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\u00a0Begin browning meat in a skillet. \u00a0When meat is nearly browned, drain the fat off and return meat to the skillet. \u00a0Add the onion and saute until soft. \u00a0Add remaining ingredients and mix well, cooking until meat mixture has thickened. \u00a0As the meat mixture is heating and thickening, begin your cheese sauce.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Cheese Sauce<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Melt the butter over medium high heat.
