{"id":717,"date":"2015-01-30T05:06:39","date_gmt":"2015-01-30T05:06:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.k7farm.com\/blog\/?p=717"},"modified":"2016-12-23T04:39:27","modified_gmt":"2016-12-23T04:39:27","slug":"pita-bread","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.k7farm.com\/blog\/?p=717","title":{"rendered":"Pita Bread"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I have been making pillowy-soft pita bread for years to accompany the lebanese dishes we enjoy cooking. \u00a0You can make them large (divide into 4 balls) or small (divide into 8).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ingredients:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>2-1\/2 c flour<\/li>\n<li>2tsp salt<\/li>\n<li>1tb sugar<\/li>\n<li>2tsp yeast<\/li>\n<li>2tb olive oil<\/li>\n<li>1c warm water<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Method:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>By the time you are ready to bake, you want the oven preheated to 500F.<\/li>\n<li>Mix the yeast, sugar and water and let the yeast begin to &#8220;proof&#8221; or get foamy.<\/li>\n<li>Mix in and knead remaining ingredients until the dough has formed into an elastic, smooth ball. \u00a0Knead for about 5 minutes after dough as formed.<\/li>\n<li>Roll dough into a ball and flatten slightly. \u00a0Divide into 4-8 wedges. \u00a0Take each wedge and roll them into balls. \u00a0Set the balls in a dusting of flour, cover with plastic wrap or a damp tea towel for 30 minutes.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Flatten the balls into discs about 6 inches for small pitas and 8 inches for large pitas, about 3\/16in. thick.<\/li>\n<li>Place these discs onto aluminum foil set on the oven rack. \u00a0Bake for about 5-8 minutes but check regularly. \u00a0When they are puffy with slight brown spots on the top, they are done!<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I have been making pillowy-soft pita bread for years to accompany the lebanese dishes we enjoy cooking.
