{"id":814,"date":"2015-02-12T01:36:05","date_gmt":"2015-02-12T01:36:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.k7farm.com\/blog\/?p=814"},"modified":"2016-12-23T04:39:23","modified_gmt":"2016-12-23T04:39:23","slug":"chicken-nuggets","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.k7farm.com\/blog\/?p=814","title":{"rendered":"Chicken Nuggets"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.k7farm.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/IMG_1594.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-816\" src=\"http:\/\/www.k7farm.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/IMG_1594-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_1594\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.k7farm.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/IMG_1594-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.k7farm.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/IMG_1594-1024x768.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/www.k7farm.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/IMG_1594-150x112.jpg 150w, http:\/\/www.k7farm.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/IMG_1594-400x300.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I have made many chicken nugget recipes over the years. \u00a0Some have been good, but not exactly what we have been looking for. \u00a0I have been trying, in some way, to come close or top the nuggets that are so loved by kids. \u00a0Something I can make in bulk and have on hand for those busy nights that I just want an easy dinner. \u00a0I have always stayed away from deep fried nuggets because I wanted a healthier option but somehow I forgot about cooking them in a skillet. \u00a0It&#8217;s not deep fried, but it still gives that satisfying crust and keeps the inside juicy. \u00a0It wasn&#8217;t until the last year or two that we have opted for\u00a0real\u00a0Parmesan cheese instead of the stuff that comes in the green can (and\u00a0<em>that<\/em> has brought new depths of flavor to old favorites!). \u00a0I haven&#8217;t tried making chicken nuggets in probably that long as well. \u00a0It was time to change that.<\/p>\n<p>I put a little of this and a little of that together and decided to pan fry the nuggets instead of bake them. \u00a0I was so glad I did. \u00a0They were so good my kids were dancing around the kitchen &#8220;m-mming&#8221; and telling me how great they were. \u00a0I think we found &#8220;it&#8221; the recipe we will treasure forever. \u00a0The recipe my daughters will want to add to their family heirloom cookbook scrapbooks. \u00a0 Even my husband liked them. \u00a0I liked them. \u00a0For goodness sake, pan fry your nuggets! \u00a0It makes a world of difference. \u00a0If you have already been doing that, then excuse my excitement. \u00a0The ingredients I threw together weren&#8217;t much (any?) different than the majority of chicken nugget recipes out there but the\u00a0<em>technique<\/em> made all the difference.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ingredients:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>2 chicken breasts cut into 1-inch pieces. \u00a0Butterfly the breast before cutting into pieces if you wish, so they cook quicker.<\/li>\n<li>Vegetable oil<\/li>\n<li>1\/2c flour<\/li>\n<li>1 egg, scrambled<\/li>\n<li>1c <a title=\"Breadcrumbs\" href=\"http:\/\/www.k7farm.com\/blog\/?p=461\">seasoned breadcrumbs<\/a><\/li>\n<li>1\/4c grated Parmesan cheese<\/li>\n<li>1tsp paprika<\/li>\n<li>1tsp onion powder<\/li>\n<li>1tsp garlic powder<\/li>\n<li>salt and pepper to taste<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Method:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Place the flour in a bowl, the egg in another bowl, and the breadcrumbs and remaining ingredients \u00a0in a third bowl. \u00a0Mix the breadcrumbs and seasonings.<\/li>\n<li>Heat a skillet over medium high heat. \u00a0Once warm, place enough vegetable oil in the bottom to lightly coat the bottom.<\/li>\n<li>Dredge chicken in flour, dip it in the egg, then roll it into breadcrumbs. \u00a0Place chicken in the skillet, no closer than about half an inch to allow proper cooking. \u00a0You will do several batches. \u00a0After cooking for a few minutes, flip the chicken and cook until cooked through. \u00a0This may be about 4 minutes per side, but it depends on how thick your chicken is &#8211; thicker chicken will take longer to cook.<\/li>\n<li>Remove it from the skillet and allow it to try on paper towel. \u00a0Once it cools a bit, take a bite and enjoy!!<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<p>I have made many chicken nugget recipes over the years.
