{"id":1769,"date":"2017-11-08T03:41:58","date_gmt":"2017-11-08T03:41:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.k7farm.com\/blog\/?p=1769"},"modified":"2017-11-08T03:41:58","modified_gmt":"2017-11-08T03:41:58","slug":"grocery-budget-tips-tip-17-keep-track-unused-food","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.k7farm.com\/blog\/?p=1769","title":{"rendered":"Grocery Budget Tips: Tip 17 &#8211; Keep Track of Unused Food"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Welcome back to the grocery budget series I am almost finished writing.\u00a0 In this series, I will share the top 20 ways that I can think of that our large family uses to keep the grocery budget from getting out of line.\u00a0 To learn more, visit our<a href=\"http:\/\/www.k7farm.com\/blog\/?p=1671\">\u00a0introduction<\/a>.\u00a0 Here is tip 17:<\/p>\n<p><u>Keep track of the food you need to use:<\/u> Did you open a jar of tomato sauce and still have some left?\u00a0 Did you only use half an onion?\u00a0 Do you remember to use everything before it goes bad?\u00a0 I certainly don\u2019t.\u00a0 But I find it helpful to keep track.\u00a0 If I have half an onion, a bit of tomato sauce, and some other odds and ends to be used, I will try to put together the next main meal using all of them (bonus ingredients I wasn\u2019t necessarily planning on using = money saved because I didn&#8217;t need to break into all new ingredients) before they go bad (money wasted).<\/p>\n<p>I like to keep a list on my fridge, and when I create weekly meal plans, I like to include a section on the paper to keep a running list of ingredients that I need to remember to use.\u00a0 If I can&#8217;t use it, I generally end up freezing it to use later .<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Welcome back to the grocery budget series I am almost finished writing.
