Lasagna skillet meal

This is a pretty easy dish to put together, and one that reminds me of the boxed meals that you just add meat to.  I usually make the dry mix in bulk and put it in a jar to store.  We don’t eat this often, but it sure is nice to have something I can throw together quickly – if you prefer, store the meals in serving sizes – use powdered tomato in place of tomato sauce (just add water to reconstitute sauce when you cook the meal), dehydrated beef (if you have it), pasta.  All you will have to do is basically just add water and mix cheese in toward the end.

Ingredients – Bulk mix:

  • 1c dry milk
  • 1/2c corn starch
  • 3tb beef bouillon
  • 1tb onion flakes
  • 1/2 ts basil
  • 1/2 ts thyme
  • 1/2 ts black pepper
  • 1tb parsley
  • 1/2tb garlic powder

Ingredients – Meal:

  • 1/2lb ground beef
  • 1/2 onion, sliced
  • 1c water
  • 1c tomato sauce
  • 1/2 c bulk mix
  • 1-1/2c pasta (broken lasagna noodles, rotini, etc.)
  • 1/8c parmesan cheese
  • 1c mozzarella cheese

Method:

  1. Brown beef in a deep skillet or large sauce pan.  Drain fat, add onion and cook until soft and translucent.
  2. Add water, tomato sauce, dry mix and pasta.  Stir well and cook over medium/medium-low heat until pasta is cooked – about 15 minutes.  Stir frequently to avoid sticking and burning.
  3. Mix in cheese.  Serve.
