March 3rd at 10am

Maple syrup season is a short but furious season here in Michigan. I will teach you how to get started with tapping maple trees – supplies and how to use them, when and how to set taps, how to collect and store sap, and transform it into syrup. Finally, learn how to turn that syrup into a shelf stable product that will be good to stay on your pantry shelves. Not sure if you have any maple trees on your property? We will take a short walk around my farm and I will show you how to ID maple trees in the winter after they have lost their leaves and how to set taps.

We will be handling this from a beginner standpoint with a limited budget who may want to tap 1-20 (give or take) trees. Learn the information before the season begins so you can gather your supplies and be ready to get to work once it’s time! There is a lot of information to cover, but don’t worry – I will send you home with a booklet that covers everything you have learned!

Maple syruping is an event the whole family can help out with!

Bring the whole family! $20 for the whole family to come and learn. Please register and prepay ahead of time to ensure the number of seats you will need.  You may mail a check, drop cash off at the farm, or pay via paypal.  We will be outside for a short period so please dress accordingly, the rest of the time we will be indoors.
